Kelly is the communications coordinator for Integrated Pest Management Innovation Lab at Virginia Tech. The IPM IL raises the standard of living of people in developing countries by working with them to develop the best solutions to the agricultural challenges they face.
Kelly recently completed an internship with the US science communication team for the Large Hadron Collider at CERN and moonlights as a freelancer in rural western Virginia.
After receiving her bachelor’s degree in physics from Appalachian State University, she completed her master’s degree in medical and science journalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she was a Roy H. Park Fellow. She spent much of the past five years writing about science, grappling with multimedia tools, and researching young solar analogue stars and exoplanet host stars at the Dark Sky Observatory on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Kelly likes swimming, hiking, eating good cheese and reading young adult fiction.
