Kelly is the communications coordinator for Integrated Pest Management Innovation Lab  at Virginia Tech. The IPM IL raises the standard of living of people in developing countries by working with them to develop the best solutions to the agricultural challenges they face.

Kelly recently completed an internship with the US science communication team for the Large Hadron Collider at CERN and moonlights as a  freelancer in rural western Virginia.

After receiving her bachelor’s degree in physics from Appalachian State University, she completed her master’s degree in medical and science journalism at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she was a Roy H.
